When I visited my first location where the Virgin Mary had appeared, I was following in my father's footsteps. He had passed away a few years earlier, and this site had become a dichotomy for me.
My father, had a very rare form of cancer, that evolved from his years in Vietnam handling Agent Orange. When he was informed by his doctors that his chances were slim to done to live past six months, he refused all types of treatments and surgery.
My father came home from Walter Reed Hospital and announced to the Family, that he would be traveling to Medjuogrge, Yugoslavia to visit the land where the Blessed Virgin Mary was appearing to five young adults.
My father was a Protestant and not much of a Church goer, so this proclamation was very shocking to my family.
